How to Register a Tenancy Contract on Ejari

Registering a Dubai tenancy on Ejari is straightforward once the paperwork is in order. You can do it online through the Dubai REST app or in person at a trustee centre. Here is what each route involves.

Before you start

Make sure the tenancy contract is signed by both parties and that you have the tenant and landlord ID, the title deed and the DEWA premises number to hand. The landlord (or their agent) needs to be reachable to approve an online request.

See the full documents checklist.

Getting these details right the first time matters — most rejections come down to avoidable mistakes.

Option A — Online via the Dubai REST app

1. Download and sign in to the Dubai REST app (the Dubai Land Department’s official app).

2. Choose the Ejari / register-tenancy-contract service.

3. Enter the tenancy details and upload the documents.

4. The landlord approves the request in the app.

5. Pay the fee in the app.

6. Receive the Ejari certificate, usually within 24–48 hours

Option B — In person at a trustee centre

1. Visit a Real Estate Services Trustee Centre (or your property manager, if the building is professionally managed).

2. Present the signed contract and supporting documents.

3. The application is reviewed at the counter.

4. Pay the fee.

5. Collect the Ejari certificate, usually the same day.

Option C — Have it handled for you

If you would rather not deal with the process, a tenancy-registration service such as ejaries.ae will check the documents, coordinate the landlord approval and return the certificate. The official record is still made in the Dubai Land Department system.

After registration

Keep the certificate and its contract number — you will need it for your visa, DEWA and any dealing with the Rental Dispute Centre. When the lease renews, the Ejari must be renewed too.

See renewal and cancellation.
